Lions: No Ulster involvement in Waratas game!

There are no Ulster players in the Lions side selected to play NSW Waratahs in Sydney on Saturday morning.

The team is dominated by the Welsh and English who make up 17 of the squad. The Irish contingent features new recruit Simon Zebo who will debut alongside Jonny Sexton, Paul O’Connell and Jamie Heaslip with Rob Kearney returning from injury with a spot on the bench.

Worryingly for Ulster, the Lions side also features five players from their Heineken Cup opponents Leicester Tigers as Tom Youngs and Croft start with Cole,  Parling and Ben Youngs on the bench.

With only the Brumbies to come, next Tuesday, before the First test, the omission of Best for this game is a blow to the Ulster man’s chances but it is likely he will feature at some point in that game. The only saving grace is that none of the three hookers have held their hands up, as yet . . .

    He would be a starter if he was fit but if the Lions win the first test it will be hard to get into a winning team outside of future injuries.

    Zebo’s an unknown until Saturday. I think we’ll see North and Hogg on the wings.

    At least three changes in the backs and I think Gatland has Gray and Wyn Jones locked down in second row. Agree with Hibbard and the back row is anyone’s guess!

    hibbard and a back row will be the pack changes for the test and 2 at most 3 changes in the back line
