PRO12: Teams named for Scarlets Semi Final

While Ulster are clear favourites, a ridiculous 1/7 with Paddy Power, this game may be a lot tougher than most people expect. In fact I can’t think of a worse side for Ulster to face at this stage of the season.

Scarlets have failed to live up to their initial hype, as is the wont of Welsh teams, but the talent at their disposal does make them a team capable of causing an upset.

Looking at the early season squads I’d predicted that whoever finished above the Scarlets would win the league and while they did go off the boil somewhat they did manage to rally sufficiently to finish in the top four and still pose a viable threat for our boys!

They field a potentially great back row and an impressive back line but their weakness is in their front five and it’s here where Ulster need to focus their efforts and work them over old style and keep the game tight up front.

Jackson will have to call the shots here, when to take it on up front, when to release the backs, and his distribution . . .

  1. the welsh have a lot to prove after last week. If Ulster do there now near traditional gift of 7 points to the oppositiopn on 3 min 45 seconds that might give them enough to fight on to the end.
