The International Rugby Board announced the kick-off times for matches at the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship earlier this week.
The tournament will take place in the north west of France as Nantes, Vannes and La Roche-sur-Yon get ready to welcome the future stars of World Rugby.
This is a particularly gruelling competition and Ireland have historically struggled to stay the pace over the three week tournament. It will be difficult for the Irish lads this year as they are placed in Pool B alongside New Zealand, Australia and Fiji, and they will do well to repeat last season’s fifth place finish. All the pool matches will take place at Stade de la Rabine in Vannes.
How Ireland end up could depend on the release of key players from the clubs and Ireland have been particularly naughty this season allowing the withdrawal of Ulster’s Stuart Olding and Connacht’s Robbie Henshaw from key U20’s Six Nations matches. If this pair don’t travel I think it would be fair to say that expectations would be limited!
Ulster players likely to be available to travel if selected are:
John Andrew (Ballymena)
Jake Caulfield (Malone)
John Creighton (Malone)
John Donnan (Ballynahinch)
Conor Joyce (Malone)
Rory Scholes (Belfast Harlequins)
Chris Taylor (Malone)
