PRO12: Ulster 31 Dragons 5

Ulster romped to a comfortable 31 – 5 bonus point win against the Dragons at Ravenhill last night to go back on top of the PRO12.

A twenty minute burst either side of half time was enough to secure the game with Tommy Bowe, Stuart Olding, Darren Cave and Paul Marshall all crossing for tries converted by Ruan Pienaar, the South African added an early penalty to the total in a good night from the kicking tee. It was a far from convincing display from Ulster, who were aided extensively by referee Leighton Hodges, but at this stage of the season it’s the results that count.

The early exchanges didn’t look promising for the home side with the Dragons looking more direct and inventive and the visitors should have taken an early lead only for Tom Prydie to miss an easy penalty in front of the posts.

Neither side dominated the opening twenty minutes but,  just as the crowd were wondering where a score was going to come from, the game sprang to life with a trademark burst by Nick Williams off the back of a scrum who found Paul Marshall in space and a well timed pass from the . . .
