AIL1B: Round 8 Results.

Belfast Harlequins kicked their way back into contention in the AIL 1B on Friday night thanks to Ian Porter who slotted over three penalties for the only scores in their 9 – 0 win over Ballymena. Despite Quins remaining in fifth place in the league the win means that there are now only four points separating the top five teams.

Ballynahinch were unable to take full advantage of the defeat of Ballymena but, just about, did enough to slip back to the top of the league on points difference, coming back from a 5 – 21 half time deficit to tie their game against UCD at Ballymacarn Park 21 – 21. Hinch fought back with tries from  David Nicholson, James Thompson and Stuart Morrow with James Lash adding a penalty and a drop.

Dungannon did take full advantage, moving to within two points of top spot, with a bonus point win over Bruff,  gaining some revenge for their Bateman Cup Final defeat last . . .
