Six Ulster girls have made the initial cut for Ireland Women’s Six Nations panel giving Ulster it’s highest representation at this level for many a year.

The girls are evenly spread over Ulster’s more successful women sides with two from Cooke, two from Belfast Harlequins and two from City of Derry as follows: –

Belfast Harlequins: Ashleigh Baxter, Nikki Caughey

City of Derry: Stacey Lea Kennedy, Glenda Mellon

Cooke: Lauren Day, Grace Davitt.

The girls now go forward to the final selection process on the weekend of 7th January when they are likely to be joined by fellow Ulster player Larissa Muldoon should she recover fully from injury.

It’s been a spectacular rise for youngsters Baxter and Caughey who have only just completed their successful first season with Ulster and it’s a fantastic achievement by Mellon who has produced the form of her career to force her way . . .
