Schools: Rugby Rankings Week 7

Despite a pretty busy list of fixtures last week only a few changes have occurred this week, albeit significant ones:

In the ‘match of the day’, Campbell College pushed to victory in the final few minutes against RBAI. Given that Belfast were one place above Campbell last week and playing in a home fixture it would have been reasonable to assume that things would have been different, although still as close. However, with CCB’s win at Osborne Park they move into 6th, while RBAI slide three places to rival’s former position, 8th.

Another top team who found it hard going this week was Regent House. Despite playing away from home they probably would have expected to defeat Down HS quite easily; however, the home team had other ideas and racked up a 14-point victory which sees them move up five places into 16th. Regent meanwhile drop one to 10th.

At the bottom, Antrim GS played a Friends’ SL team who have struggled so far to say the least; Antrim themselves had . . .

I understand now i didnt think all those statistics were taken into consideration. Cheers

I agree with Edd… even though I’m from Campbell College

  4. Remember that these rankings are for the season as a whole; they are not a measure of current form. So, even though Cambridge’s win % has increased, their opponent rating has decreased (from 0.444 to 0.420) after playing a low ranked opponent.
Actually, despite the drop in rank, their overall score has actually increased.

Surely Cambridge house should go up a place or two instead of going down 1 place. We beat portora 23-8 on the 19th of November

      Congratulations on your win.

The rankings are worked out on the match score and the strength of the opposition. One of the other teams around you in the league must have beaten a team ranked higher than Portora.

The rankings also include the midweek fixtures from last week so those results may also have had a bearing on Cambridge’s positioning this week.
