It was an emotionally charged rendition of Ireland’s Call given by the Irish Women’s side for their opening World Cup match against hosts England. Pride, passion and tears were in abundance as the Irish players readied themselves for their biggest challenge under the glare of the TV cameras in front of a partisan home crowd.

This article was changed on 7th May 2020. England scorers names were added as were the two team lists.

Not that the Ireland were without support, and it was pleasing to see the green shirts and flags throughout the day but the script had been written and the broadcasters, organisers and home crowd got the result they wanted as England overpowered the determined Irish to run out winners by 27 – 0 at the end of a long day of rugby.

Ireland faced a strong wind and an English onslaught in the opening exchanges which ended when Pocock found . . .

    Enjoyed the photos Ed. In the spectating stakes the girls from Young Munster looked like super models compared to the Yanks. Well done girls! 🙂

    Looking forward to Tuesdays must win match, lets hope the girls can do it!
