Ulster’s Niall Annett scored the opening try in Ireland’s 37 – 10 win over Samoa in the 9th Place play off’s. Ireland now face Scotland  in Parana on Monday 21st for the 9th place final.

Ireland went on to score five tries in total with Leinster winger Andrew Boyle grabbing a hat trick and replacement Connacht centre Eoin Griffin adding the fifth.

Leinster’s Noel Reid, standing in at out half for Ulster’s James McKinney, bagged three conversions and two penalties keeping the scoreboard ticking over during a tight opening quarter.
