The opening round of the Women’s All Ireland Cup took place on Sunday with Ulster clubs, Ballynahinch, City of Derry and Cooke all taking part.
City of Derry and Cooke took part in an entertaining all Ulster battle at Judges Road with the Belfast outfit coming out well on top in a 0 – 59 win against a depleted Derry side, several players trying to shake off a bug doing the rounds.
A young Ballynahinch, in their first season in All Ireland competition, entertained a clinical Blackrock at Ballymacarn Park with the Dublin side pulling away in the second half to record a 3 – 66 win.
Cooke will now fly the fleg for Ulster in the Quarter Finals where they have a home fixture against Railway Union on Sunday the 5th February. Kick off 13:00 at Shawsbridge.
