I was hoping for two strong teams, so Ulster could put the Westies in their place, but it’s a fairly average Connacht side and if Ulster play to the standard they have attained over the last few weeks it should be a fairly convincing win for the visitors.
Well, that’s how it looks on paper but a Boxing Day Inter Provincial has it’s own special atmosphere and, at the moment, Connacht are the high flying Irish side in the PRO12, a distinction they will be loathed to give up. Certainly, form in the league would point to a home win.
In fairness, the quality that Ulster have in the treatment room far outweighs those that are missing for Connacht, but Ulster have much deeper reserves to pick from.
