The teams have been announced for Ulster’s opening PRO12 fixture, against Ospreys at Ravenhill later today. KO 19:35.
Andrew Trimble grabs the headlines, having been jettisoned from the Irish World Cup Squad, but on another day the headlines would be the inclusion of Peter Nelson at out half.
The last time I saw Nelson play in this position was in 2010 for Royal School Dungannon but since then he’s been utilised on the wing or at full back. Injuries to Ian Humphreys and Sam Windsor have opened the door for the youngster and it’ll be interesting to see how he responds.
He could face tougher challenges down the line as Ospreys travel without thirteen of their internationals compared to Ulster’s seven and looking at the teams it looks as though it should be a comfortable home win for the hosts.
However, the noises coming from the Ospreys camp is that they will play a game to contain with out half Sam Davies keeping things tight to utilise . . .
