Ulster missed out on the chance to consolidate a top four finish after a disappointing performance against the Dragons last Sunday afternoon, eventually going down 26 – 22 in a scrappy match. It was a performance that has been on the cards now for a few months, given the scrappy performances to date, the difference this time round being Ulster couldn’t find that golden 20 minutes that has got them out of a few holes this season.

The early morning drizzle had given way to bright sunlight by the time kick-off came around but the conditions didn’t seem to suit a makeshift Ulster.

Injuries and suspensions had hit the visitors hard and the situation wasn’t improved by the late withdrawal of Louis Ludik, a move that saw Gilroy switch to fullback with Rory Scholes bumping up from the bench to play left wing. Ross Adair joined Ireland U20’s Sam Arnold on the bench.
