Ulster beat the Dragons 23 – 6 at a wet and windy Ravenhill on Saturday night to move back to third place in the PRO12.

I’d said in my preview that I fancied an open game with Ulster securing a bonus point in a high scoring encounter but it also had the potential to be a bit of an error strewn Halloween Horror. On reflection I think I’ll have to come down on the side of Halloween Horror as I don’t think I’ve muttered the phrase “fer fecks sake” as often in my life as I did in the last 15 minutes of this match!

Yes, there were some highlights, the wing forward pairing of Clive Ross and Sean Reidy performed particularly well, Reidy reminding me of Willie Faloon at his pomp, and Stuart Olding showed a couple of touches that mark him out as something special but the lack of composure in the second half and the poor game management throughout was particularly frustrating. This was a five pointer there for the taking and Ulster, literally, fumbled their chance of . . .
