PRO12: Leinster 13 Ulster 9

Leinster produced a late flourish to take this game 13 – 9 with Ian Madigan scoring the only try of the game on the 72nd minute.

It was a case of Ulster throwing the game away I’m afraid. They dominated the opening 60 minutes, with only the Leinster scrum keeping them in the game, but Ulster lacked composure at key times, coughing up possession in the red zone too, too frequently.

Hindsight is great, and the hasty reintroduction of Best and Pienaar has to be questioned, with Pienaar, in particular, looking far from his imperious self. Herring and Paul Marshall had performed well in recent outings and maybe deserved a start, with Best and Pienaar coming on with 20 to go, but hey, I was more than happy, in fact ecstatic, with the selections before the game!

On such calls are championships won and lost and in the first half it looked as though Ulster had got them all right as Jackson put Ulster in front on the 7th minute with a kick from close in after they . . .
