Ballymoney Ladies Rugby will be holding a charity mixed tag blitz event on Saturday, 3rd August 2013, kicking off at 1:00 pm, at Ballymoney Rugby and Football Club, 63 Kilraughts Road, BT53 7HL.
All money raised at this event will be going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, with the hope, that in some little way, it will provide beneficial for the people who suffer from the affliction of this horrible and debilitating disease (http://www.mndassociation.
The event will be in two parts, the mixed tag blitz tournament, to take place in the afternoon, and live entertainment, to take place in the clubhouse, during evening.
Afternoon Mixed Tag Blitz Tournament
Entry to the mixed tag blitz tournament will be £60 per team of 12 (consisting of a minimum of 3 female players, as this is the minimum number of females that must be playing at any one time), with matches played using the Laws of IRFU Tag Rugby applicable to a mixed tag game:
N.B. The following Laws have been added and/or amended since the publication of the above document:
1) Penalty Tries:
Definition: A Penalty Try will be worth 3 points in all matches.
2) Over 50 Veteran Player
(Law 3.2) In Veterans League matches over 50 players must be clearly identifiable by one of the following means:
– Wearing different colour shorts to their team mates
– Wearing a different colour jersey to their team mates that does not clash with the opposition colours
– Over 50 players must make themselves known to the referee before the start of play.
– Over 50 players not adhering to this law will be awarded one (1) point per try scored.
(Law 5.17 b) The ball carrier must not jump to avoid being tagged. In mixed games the ball carrier may not spin/swivel through 360° to avoid being tagged. A side step is allowed. A 360° spin is permitted in Men-Only matches (including Men-Only Veterans Matches). Any contact initiated in an attempted spin or swivel is liable to sanction. The onus is on the ball carrier to avoid contact.
Each half will last 10 minutes, with a 2 minute break between halves.
Live Entertainment-Evening Event
Entry to the live entertainment-evening event will be charged at the door, and will cost £5 per person entry.

It has been decided that the cut off date and time for team entry will be Saturday, 27th July 2013 at 5:00 pm. Entries made after this date may not be considered. Therefore, to avoid disappointment, get your team entry in early.
Entered teams are required to register at the event at least 1 hour prior to the tournament kick off at 1:00 pm.
