The Ireland team to play the USA at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston on Saturday has been named.
The start of a new era in Irish Rugby and a new look team! Not really, with most of the Leinster players away with the Lions it’s good to see that Schmidt’s new Ireland have been able to slot in the second tier Leinster players almost seamlessly!
This is a second string team and there are bound to be a few discussion points but the major surprise has to be the omission of Trimble, one of the best performers in Ireland this season. It’s such a surprise that it’ll have the conspiracy theorists floating the Southern bias balloon straight off, but who cares what the Nordies think as they won’t get a chance to watch it on terrestrial TV anyway!
The clamour for Madigan to start has finally got it’s way, and rightfully so, he does need to be assessed at a higher level, though this tour may end up as a poisoned chalice for the talented youngster against two such physical teams who will take a great deal of pleasure targeting these fancy- nancy play-makers . . .
