FRU: The week ahead.

If you are suffering from rugby withdraw don’t worry as there is plenty of action in the coming month. In fact June is one of the busiest months in the rugby calendar with four Irish squads in action alongside the British and Irish tour to Australia.

Ulster are heavily involved, sending the great and the good from our wee province to all corners of the world at a level unprecedented since the Flowering of Ireland when men of Ulster educated the western world.

Not only do we have Rory and Tommy on the Lions tour but there are now ten Ulster men in the Ireland tour to the USA and Canada, following Rory’s elevation to the Lions, and seven in the Emerging Ireland tour to Georgia following Niall Annett’s inclusion after Rory’s bump up.

The Ireland U20’s kick off next week in the Junior World Championship in FraIt’s a busy old week for the men of Ulster with nce with seven Ulster youngsters involved  and the Ireland Women’s 7’s squad, currently featuring Ashleigh Baxter and Amy Davis in Brive, will be playing in Marbella, Spain as their final warm up for the Rugby World Cup Sevens Tournament in Moscow at the end of the month.

This coming week sees five matches which should feature Ulster players as follows:

Wednesday June 5th

Lions: Western Force v Lions – British & Irish Lions, Sky Sports 1 HD (10:30)

U20 JWC: Ireland v Austalia – Junior World Championship Rugby, Sky Sports 3 – Red Button (17:45), Sky Sports Xtra (17:45), TG4 coverage begins at 17.36.

Friday June 7th

Tbilisi Cup: Georgia v Emerging Ireland – KO 16:00, Coverage to be confirmed.

Saturday June 8th

Lions: Queensland Reds v Lions – British & Irish Lions, Sky Sports 2 HD (10:30)

Test: United States v Ireland – TG4 live coverage begins at 01.20, full deferred coverage 12.05 on Sunday, June 9

Sunday June 9th

U20 JWC: Ireland v Fiji – Junior World Championship Rugby, Sky Sports 4 (17:30), Sky Sports 4 HD (17:30), TG4 live coverage begins at 17.36.
