First off, thanks for your comment. Flagging up things like this helps to improve the accuracy of the rankings which, at only five years old, are still in their infancy.

When the rankings are first drawn up at the start of the year each team is assigned a probable Cup entry round depending on their small number of matches so far and their entrance point in previous seasons. With this in mind, Belfast HS were assigned round 2 while Friends’ SL were assigned round 2/3 based on the info available at the time.
This would account for BHS and FSL having an equal score despite Belfast’s now apparent superiority.

When the draw is made tomorrow for the Cup teams will be assigned their correct entry point and the rankings for Week 9 will be updated accordingly. If Belfast are placed in round 3 and Friends’ in round 2 expect to see them assume a more accurate position.

My initial stance was to assign teams a probable Cup entry point and not change this until the official draw was confirmed; however, as this example shows, in the future I will alter predictions on a week-by-week basis (if required) to avoid scenarios like this one.

Hope this explains things and will go towards making the rankings even better.

How can u believe these ratings to be accurate? For example BHS played Bangor GS with their Ulster players not available drew 10 – 10 Beat Friends 52- 0 Drew with Ballymena 17- 17? and yet your system says Friends is ranked higher than BHS? Doesn’t seem right sorry?
