Dungannon’s Chris Cochrane (right) scored Ulster’s only try in the Raven’s game.

While the seniors may have, just about, secured a win over Munster the Ravens came up short against Munster A at Deramore Park on Friday afternoon losing a thrilling encounter 17 – 19.

The Ravens suffered a late change to their starting line up with Queen’s Richie McMaster standing in as a late replacement for Niall O’Connor.

McMaster was the only scorer in the first half slotting over three penalties to give the Ravens a 9 – 0 lead at the break.

Munster hit back shortly after the re-start with an unconverted try from Holland to take the score to 9 – 5 but McMaster responded with his fourth penalty to put the Ravens seven points clear.

It looked as though Ulster had secured the win early in the final quarter when a Chris Cochrane intercept try extended the lead to 17 – 5  but, with the carding of the influential Dan Tuohy for the home side, the visitors began to get on top.

Munster half backs, Sheridan and then Hanrahan, both went over in the last ten minutes and with Hanrahan converting both it was enough for Munster A to secure an unlikely win.

Final score: Ravens 17 Munster A 19.
