I suspect I’ll be repeating that headline when the Heineken Fixtures are confirmed next week, but as far as this week is concerned the PRO12 Fixture List has been announced and unfortunately it hasn’t got any more professional with it only being the weekends of the games and not the actual match date and times.
The 2012/13 RaboDirect PRO12 fixtures have announced, with Ulster opening their campaign with a home tie against Glasgow Warriors for the second successive season.
They then play Ospreys away and Munster at home, before a trip to league newcomers Zebre in round 4. There are two-week break after round 6 to allow the first two Heineken Cup pool games to be played mid-October. The PRO12 will re-commence again for another four matches, before rounds 3 and 4 of Europe in December.
The usual derby fixtures will be around Christmas and New Year, with Ulster hosting Leinster on the weekend of 21-23 December, before travelling to face Munster the following week.
Ulster v Edinburgh will be the first game of 2013, before back-to-back Heineken Cup games bring the pool stages to a close. Four rounds of matches will take place during the 2013 RBS 6 Nations, so Ulster’s squad depth will be fully tested during that period.
The final round of matches during the regular season will be played on the first weekend of May, with the play-offs the following weekend and the Grand Final will be on Saturday 25th May.
