What a difference a week makes in the world of rugby, with Ireland going from hero’s to zero’s in a matter of 30 seconds at the end of the match against Wales.

Last weeks results in the opening round of the RBS Six Nations leaves France out in front at 11/8 for the championship having secured their expected win over Italy and the French are expected to continue on their winning ways as 1/4 favourites to do over Ireland in Paris tomorrow night. There is a slight glimmer of hope for Ireland in that Paddy Power are only offering a 9 point handicap.

Wales have moved into outright second favourites at 13/8 for teh championship and are an exceedingly measly 1/9 to win against Scotland! If the Scots can convert some of the chances they created last wekend then they may well be worth a punt at 10/11 with a 12 point handicap.

The surprise of the weekend could come in Rome at Stadio Olimpico where Italy are 3/1 outsiders to get a result against England. New look England were far from impressive in their smash and grab raid against the Scots and I still think they have a couple of games to get under their belt before they hit any form. The Italians are definitely targeting this game as their ”surprise” of the tournament making the handicap of Itlay to win by 1 -12 points at 7/2 look like the bet of the weekend.

[aside]As a bit of fun, though I don’t think you’ll find these odds anywhere, the Front Row Union latest odds on who will be Ulster’s manager next season based on our poll are as follows:

3/1 Brian Mclaughlin

8/1 Graham Henry

8/1 Youngman

14/1 Know It All

14/1 John Plumtree

18/1 Ragin Raven [/aside]
