A few changes to what we were predicting up front with Macklin in for Carey and a few starters and benchers changed round. I’d also forgot about Michael Allen in the centre and he has been showing good form of late by all accounts.

Biggest surprise in Henderson starting in second row, don’t know if it means he isn’t performing in the back row, or whether Joyce is cutting up a storm or whether the other second row options aren’t working out as hoped? My guess would be a bit of both of the  latter two but it would be pure speculation!

Anyway the official UR announcement below!

Ulster Ravens coach Gary Longwell has named his starting XV and replacements to take on Leinster in this Friday’s Inter-provincial clash at Donnybrook (kick off 6pm).

Callum Black will start in the front row alongside John Burns and Adam Macklin as he begins his return to action following a neck injury suffered in a friendly.

Iain Henderson will partner Neil McComb in the second row, while Conor Joyce, David McGuigan and Ali Birch making up the back row combination.

Ian Porter and Paddy Jackson, who have featured heavily for the senior side at the start of the season will direct affairs from the half back positions. Phoenix Academy players Chris Farrell, Michael Allen, Chris Cochrane, Conor Gaston and Ricky Andrew complete the backline.

Ulster development players Niall Annett and James McKinney are among those who start among the replacements.

The fixture will be a stern test for a young Ravens side ahead of their first British & Irish Cup game against Doncaster on Friday 11th November.

Ravens: (1-15) Callum Black, John Burns, Adam Macklin, Iain Henderson, Neil McComb, Conor Joyce, David McGuigan, Ali Birch, Ian Porter, Paddy Jackson, Chris Cochrane, Chris Farrell, Michael Allen, Conor Gaston, Ricky Andrew. (16-23) Niall Annett, Kyle McCall, Ryan Jablonski, James Simpson, Sean O’Connell, Blane McIlroy, James McKinney, Peter Nelson
