  • Are you studying in Belfast?
  • Do you want to give a Rugby a try but not sure how to?
  • Do you play other sports and want to try your hand at something new?

Then look no further…

We at Queen’s University Belfast Women’s Rugby Club are looking for new players to sign up for the 2011/12 season. All experience levels are welcome, and many current Ulster players have begun their Rugby careers here at QUB.

This year the club will be playing in both the IRFU Ulster Branch’s Development league and the CUSAI All Ireland Universities League. As well as this there will be a number of teams from the club taking part in University TAG Rugby competitions throughout the year, so there will be plenty of opportunity to play both contact and non contact.

QUBRFC has a long history of Rugby Excellence; the club was founded in 1869 and is the second oldest rugby union club in Northern Ireland. The Men’s teams at the club have featured a number of Irish Internationals and British and Irish Lions, the most recent being Tommy Bowe.

Now QUBRFC are hoping to use that experience to help develop Women’s players who will go on to represent Ireland, and through our Rugby Academy we are already supporting senior Ulster players, such as Claire McLaughlin and Ashleigh Baxter, both of whom are Queen’s students.

Playing at QUBRFC offers unique opportunities for Women to play with people who are their own age with similar interests, experience University sport and enjoy all the social benefits of being part of a University club.

Training will run on Monday nights between 6.30 and 8.30 and on Wednesday afternoons between 2.00 and 3.30pm, and there will be plenty of social events happening throughout the year.

If anyone is interested, we’re on Facebook (www.facebook.com/QUBRFC) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/QUBRFC), check out our club website (www.qubrfc.co.uk) or email Robert ford on r.ford@qub.ac.uk
