Our latest reporter Emma Lowe gives us the run down on todays squad announcement.

So looking like it’s going to be pretty similar again this week.

Captain Chris Henry said with the 9 Internationals away the squad will continue to build on last Friday’s success and work to iron out any problems they had finishing. He was generally pleased with the team’s performance and he noted it’s not going to be easy for the Irish boys to walk back onto the squad on their return after the World Cup.

With the Kyriacou’s about to celebrate a happy event in the near future, Coach Brian McLaughlin said Nigel Brady will be getting as much match time as possible, so you never know Brady could even get a start for the Aironi game. McLaughlin also commented that Callam Black has had his neck reassessed and is quite hopeful that he’ll be back to rehab and that Deckie Fitz will hopefully be available for the weekend.

Darren Cave talked of his Irish aspirations commenting that Brian O’Driscoll’s not going to be playing for ever and while he is focusing on getting the starts for Ulster for the moment he hopes to be in contention to fill those pretty giant boots.

Ambitious loosehead prop Paddy McAllister talked of the hard work he’ll be putting in while the internationals are away and how he intends to capitalise on this time to become fully specialised in loose head whist also gain knowledge at tight. The driven youngster wants to smash the concept of props maturing like wine and wants to be the best he can while he’s still young and got that mobile edge over his competitors. He joked saying he intends to be on his 50th cap by the end of the world cup period.
