Ulster fans enjoy a pre-match bite to eat at the Belvedere

The Front Row Union popped into the Belvedere, 69 Creagagh Road, on Friday before the Harlequins game to run the cafe/restaurant through the stringent quality check that we carry out on all our advertisers!

A bit of background first – the Belvedere Café Restaurant Belfast is a family friendly restaurant, which offers good value wholesome food in comfortable relaxed surroundings over two floors. As well as offering a pre-match Rugby Menu, the Belvedere have recently introduced a new breakfast menu offering their house favourite Eggs Benedict or a range of omelette’s alongside the good old fry!

Their head chef has created a Dinner Menu which is sure to please every discerning taste, served three nights a week Thursday to Saturday 5-10pm. and they offer a  Bring Your Own (BYO) service with no Corkage charge.

If, like me,  you prefer a relaxing Sunday they will be offering everything from a buffet service to a full Sunday Roast over the next few weeks.

I was pleased to see that they source most of their ingredients from local supplier such as Ferguson Meats, Yellow Door and Hoys Farm .

And so it was that myself, ably supported by Rugby Mummy and a bottle of Pinot Noir from the nearby Tesco’s, arrived at the Belvedere on Friday around five thirty to find  the cafe already busy with the staff tending to a group of supporters  downstairs and a  larger group upstairs.

Despite the hustle and bustle  our order was taken quickly and in less than ten minutes we were served up with homemade beef burger with tomato relish and hand cut chips for myself and stuffed pork loin chop with red onion gravy and hand cut chips for Rugby Mummy that we’d chosen  from their rugby menu which is also available for pre-ordering for larger groups.

Food was great and the staff were attentive throughout. It really was a friendly and relaxed service with good honest food and I’m pleased to say that we have no problems recommending the Belvedere to our readers, in fact we give it a great big thumbs up. Definately be back!
