Academy Latest: New Recruits

Ulster Rugby have signed up four new recruits, so far, for next season.

The 2012 intake see’s Munster U20’s second row and UCC player David O’Mahony move north as Ulster’s world wide search for young second row’s picks up someone close to home on the first trawl. O’Mahony took part in last seasons Aviva opener and made an appearance for Ireland U20’s in the last U20’s Six Nations fixture against France.

Also joining the Academy are Chris Farrell [Campbell College], Caleb Morrison [Ballymena Academy] Stuart Olding [BRA] and Peter Nelson [RS Dungannon].

Ireland U18 player and 2011 Schools Cup Winner Chris Farrell certainly caught the eye in the semi final and final at Ravenhill last season, a big bustling centre with a great enthusiasm for the game.

    Very much so, he’s in the ulster u20 strength&conditioning at UUJ, putting on good weight.

      We’re going to have some real competition at out half over the next few years with Jackson McKinney and Olding – each bringing something to the party!

    Worth mentioning that Olding and Farrell both featured strongly in the successful Irish European Under 18 Campaign – Olding showing some deft skills with the boot and an outrageous sidestep, Farrell proving that the battering ram with hands actually exists.

      Cheers Pingu – Farrell certainly is a big unit with great skills. Been a while since I saw Olding is he filling out yet?
