Ulster Rugby have signed up four new recruits, so far, for next season.

The 2012 intake see’s Munster U20′s second row and UCC player David O’Mahony move north as Ulster’s world wide search for young second row’s picks up someone close to home on the first trawl. O’Mahony took part in last seasons Aviva opener and made an appearance for Ireland U20′s in the last U20′s Six Nations fixture against France.

Also joining the Academy are Chris Farrell [Campbell College], Caleb Morrison [Ballymena Academy] Stuart Olding [BRA] and Peter Nelson [RS Dungannon].

Ireland U18 player and 2011 Schools Cup Winner Chris Farrell certainly caught the eye in the semi final and final at Ravenhill last season, a big bustling centre with a great enthusiasm for the game.

Caleb Morrison was voted the Man of the Match in Ballymena Academy’s 2010 Schools Cup win, a speedy winger with an eye for a good line and exceptional balance – a lovely smooth runner.

Stuart Olding was the losing captain in BRA’s final appearance against Ballymena in 2010, another jinking out half coming through the system (where do we get them all from?).

Ireland Schoolboy international Peter Nelson also featured at out half for Royal School Dungannon but looks like he is going to slip into the back three with fullback being a distinct possibility. An evasive runner and strong tackler Nelson will also be trying to breakthrough into the highly competitive Dungannon back line this season.

Worth mentioning that Olding and Farrell both featured strongly in the successful Irish European Under 18 Campaign – Olding showing some deft skills with the boot and an outrageous sidestep, Farrell proving that the battering ram with hands actually exists.

Cheers Pingu – Farrell certainly is a big unit with great skills. Been a while since I saw Olding is he filling out yet?

We’re going to have some real competition at out half over the next few years with Jackson McKinney and Olding – each bringing something to the party!
