It's not their heads that they should worry about injuring!

Ulster Rugby released  an update on the latest injuries, and it’s not looking good for back row options for this Friday.

Dan Tuohy injured a hamstring during Friday’s game against the Dragons at Rodney Parade. He will have an ultrasound scan today and an MRI scan tomorrow, after which we will know more with regard to diagnosis and prognosis

Elsewhere Stephen Ferris, who has been out since January with a knee injury continues his rehab and in conjunction with his surgeons and the IRFU Medical team it has been decided that Stephen will not play again this season.

Willie Faloon who is currently unavailable having injured his shoulder in training two weeks ago will undergo surgery this Thursday to repair a torn rotator cuff.

We’ll learn more about Dan later today but the big man usually bounces back fairly quickly. Should he not make it for Friday then Barker is more than capable to step in.

While a big loss for Ulster I must admit that  I think it’s best that Stevie is not rushed back. In fact , if it was up to me I wouldn’t have him playing till after the World Cup with three or four months spent strengthening his knee in rehab. It would be a real boost to Ulster’s chances if we could get a season out of him.

Ireland are fairly well served in the back row at the minute and while Ferrris would be gutted to miss out on the World Cup he wouldn’t be long getting over it as he rocketed to super stardom simply on the strength of actually playing for a full season!

Faloon is a big loss in my opinion and hopefully we’ll see a lot more of him next season as Ulster become more confident in their ability and look to play a more balanced back row rather than just three bruisers. As our only natural seven at the mo he’s going to have his work cut out next season so hopefully everything goes as planned on Thursday.
