It was with much sadness that I learned of the death of my old friend Granville Hall who passed away late last week after a short illness.

Affectionately known as “Stately Homes”, Granville was a lifelong Ulster supporter and a real friend of this site having attended our first ever Awards Night back in 2005 and his input to the Awards Night in subsequent years helped turn it into the event it is now.

A regular tourist with Ulster, “Stately” enjoyed recent trips to Biarritz, Galway and Bath and was a popular figure in the Scoop Bar at Ravenhill, events, which I’m glad to say, are captured in our Galleries along with many other happy memories of the old rogue!

He’ll be much missed by the friends he’s left behind.

Granville’s funeral takes place on Wednesday 9th February at 12:30pm, Rosemary Presbyterian Church, North Circular Road, Belfast followed by a service at Roselawn Cemetery at 2:00pm.

Granville Hall - Much missed by his friends.

Lovely tribute to one of the good guys!!! My last memory of him is in Biarritz, in good form, stopping a public bus for myself & the missus to get on board!! The driver was less amused than Granville was!

Very sad news, my condolences to Granville’s nearest and dearest.

A proud Ulster man who stood up for the team on the park many, many times, home and away, I would be proud to stand up for Granville.

    Grumps

I worked with Granville; he was a highly accomplished Chemistry teacher who will be remembered affectionately by many, many colleagues and students. Above all he had a very generous spirit. I will miss our lively discussions of all things Ulster rugby and yes – he will be with the team in spirit v Northampton. My sincerest condolences to Granville’s family circle.
