The Ireland team in their last competitive outing against Scotland in the World Cup.

Ulster’s Lauren Day and Stacey Lea Kennedy have been selected for the Ireland side to Face Italy in RBS 6 Nations Championship at Rovigo on Sunday February 6th. KO 13:30 Irish time.

Day starts at tight head against the Italians and Kennedy starts as replacement hooker, the Ulster pair are joined by Larissa Muldoon from Donegal, as replacement scrum half, who makes her first Ireland appearance before being selected for her province.

Speaking last week Lauren Day told the FRU that this was one game that she was looking forward to following her late withdrawal from the Ireland World Cup Squad after breaking her wrist in their pre-tournament warm up match against Wales.

Italy is the only nation I’ve yet to play ?but they have a really heavy pack ?and exceptionally quick wingers. We’ll be focusing more on the Italian team this weekend ?at training but we are confident in our own game ?and we hope to do well. ?I’m really looking forward to it and it’s exciting to be back.

This is Day’s third season in the Ireland set-up.

Newcomer Stacey Lea Kennedy is delighted to be included, telling the FRU, “It’s a dream come true!”

The City of Derry player is fully deserving of her call up after some impressive displays for for the North West side in the AIL 2 and the hard working hooker was one of Ulster’s stand out players in this seasons inter-provincials, showing a real hard edge to her game which belies her bubbly character!

Donegal’s, Larissa Muldoon has shot into the squad after being discovered playing for her college side in Cardiff with a video of her play being sent to the Ireland management team. The Irish set up were so impressed that she was invited along to Ireland training and the rest, as they say, is history.

The FRU would like to congratulate all three Ulster ladies and we look forward to covering their progress in this seasons Six Nations.
