This announcement has sneaked out today as well!
The Ulster team to play Bath at The Rec in Round 4 of the Heineken Cup tomorrow (Sat 18th December) is as follows;
Ulster (15-9) Adam D’Arcy; Andrew Trimble, Nevin Spence, Paddy Wallace, Simon Danielli; Ian Humphreys, Ruan Pienaar (1-8) Tom Court, Nigel Brady, BJ Botha, Johann Muller (Captain), Dan Tuohy, Pedrie Wannenburg, Willie Faloon, Robbie Diack
Replacements (16-23) Andi Kyriacou, Paddy McAllister, Bryan Young, Tim Barker, Chris Henry, Paul Marshall, Ian Whitten, Jamie Smith
There are just two changes of personnel from the starting XV which defeated Bath 22-18 at Ravenhill last weekend, both in the back row. Last week’s Heineken MOTM Stephen Ferris is ruled out after injuring his leg in training this week while Willie Faloon starts ahead of Chris Henry who is named on the bench.
I didn’t think that my words about Ferris needing to be taken care off more would come back to haunt us soo soon but in all honesty our biggest asset has been picking up the knocks with alarming regularity and thus my contention that he and Wannenburg should be rotated during each game.
With Pedrie available and Faloon and Diack starting (hurrah) Stevie’s loss shouldn’t be as serious as it could have been with Ulster now more likely to move the ball round the lumbering Bath pack rather than go for a biggest cahones competition up front. Bath have shown they have a good defence if you run straight at them so now’s the time to start moving it around them.
Really looking forward to this one for if you stick on Smith at full back and Kyriacou at hooker and you’ve very nearly got my full fav starting XV. (I would keep Ferris on the bench nad only play him sparingly if some team was needing to be given a bit of a beasting – at least untill his injury problems clear.Also of course I would start with O’Connor.)
Bonus point win for Ulster at the Rec!
