It was a mixed weekend for women’s rugby in Ulster. Cooke were defeated 14 – 3 by Highfield in AIL 1 dropping them to 5th on the table.

In AIL 2N, Cavan got their first win of the season beating a depleted Enniskillen 12 -10. Try scorer for Enniskillen was Noreen Nethercott and Cavan’s points scored by Lynn Maguire.

Belfast Harlequins lost to Cill Dara 24 – 15 in a very physical encounter – Lesleyann Stirling scored two tries with Nikki Caughey adding the third just before full time.

City of Derry defeated Malahide 28 – 17 despite having only 13 players – Natasha Milligan got a hat trick with Stacey Lea Kennedy going over for the bonus point try.

Carrick were defeated by a very strong Navan outfit 71 – nil.

In the Development League, Ballymoney continued their dominance defeating Letterkenny 34 – 22. An impressive Julie Newton scored 4 tries with a try apiece from Charlene McCafferty and Anne Richmond.

Ballyshannon were defeated by Belfast Harlequins II’s 22 – 20 in a very close game. It was an strong return to competition for the Ballyshannon women. The try scorers from Ballyshannon were Louise Rooney with two and one apiece from Lynda Loughlin and Danika Doherty.
