City of Derry ran out comfortable winners in this AIL 2N match at Judges Road on Sunday afternoon.
Derry dominated the whole match with only a few glimmers of inspiration from Cavan.
Stacey-Lee Kennedy opened the scoring running in a try after four minutes with Rachel Lennox converting to give the home side a 7 – 0 lead.
However with both defences dominating it was a further thirty minutes before the scoreboard was troubled again, this time by Rachael Fleming who went over for an unconverted try.
This was followed shortly after with a run in by winger Natasha Milligan. Lennox added the extras and in the dying minutes of the first half Kennedy went over for her second of the match with Lennox again converting to take the half time score to 26 -0.
Cavan continued to battle hard in the second half But the home side eventually wore them down with a try by Diane Nixon and Stacey-Lea Kennedy completed her hat-trick. Lennox converted both taking the final score to City of Derry 40 Cavan 0.
