It was another positive outing for Ulster’s Under 20 side as they notched up a 0 – 20 win against Irish Exiles at the Oratory School, Berkshire. That the coaches believe it should have been much more shows expectations are building for this talented group of youngsters.
There were some handling errors in the first half though this may be down to 06:30 start at Aldergrove as much as anything and things improved once they’d loosened up.
In fact the big, strong, Exiles side started well and could have been ahead and but for their own errors. However, despite missing the influential McGuigan, due to illness, the pack were tenacious in everything they did against a much bigger side playing very well as a unit with McCall and Henderson (2nd half sub) standing out.
The match marked the end of a busy weekend for the McIlwaine family from Larne who had spent Saturday watching son David make his début for Ulster against Harlequins before trekking the short distance to Oratory School to watch Stewart line out for the U20′s on Sunday.
