Friday saw myself and Lauren meet with one of our sponsors, Harberry Training.

From the off we had great craic with Eric and Sharon. They were chatting us through what their business was all about, offering First Aid Training and Defibrillator Training to different sporting clubs and members of the public.

Of course myself and Lauren couldn’t wait to see how things worked so we convinced them to give us a demo and a little training with the defib.

It was comforting for Lauren to know for once that she wasn’t the only dummy there as they took out all the training equipment and resuscitation mannequin haha…

Sharon and Eric talked us through step by step the stages from when someone collapses on a pitch, activating the the defib and carrying out CPR until the Ambulance arrive.

I knew that it was just training but I couldn’t help but think at the time of what it would be like if this actually happened infront of my own eyes on the playing field.

The unfortunate thing is that occurrences like these are happening more often and it is vital for the different sporting clubs across NI to cover themselves and their players by installing such life saving equipment and then follow it up with providing the specific training which could make the difference between life and death some day for someone.

Harberry Training are the leading National Sports First Aid training providers in Ulster and together with their partners Heartsine Technologies they provide a range of courses and equipment specifically tailored for sports clubs.
