ulster120white Ulster have announced a huge squad of 28 to run through preparations for Friday nights match against the Ospreys. KO 19:05.

The key concerns appear to be with the back row with Faloon and Pollock still carrying injuries. Neil McComb has been called into the squad to act as second row cover should Tuohy be required to slip back a row. However with Tuohy and O’Donoghue forming a strong partnership in the boiler room of a formidable front five McLaughlin will be hoping that he can keep that unit intact.

FORWARDS: Declan Fitzpatrick, Bryan Young, BJ Botha, Nigel Brady, Andy Kyriacou, Ed O’Donoghue, Dan Tuohy, Ryan Caldwell, Chris Henry, Tom Court, Stephen Ferris, Willie Faloon, TJ Anderson, Neil McComb, David Pollock. BACKS: Jamie Smith, Clinton Schifcofske, Simon Danielli, Darren Cave, Ian Whitten, Timoci Nagusa, Ian Humphreys, Niall O’Connor, Isaac Boss, Paddy Wallace, Andrew Trimble, Cillian Willis, Jonny Shiels

Paddy Wallace may also be carrying an injury with Cave and Shiels called into the squad as midfield cover. However irrespective of injuries I expect to see couple of changes in the backs for this “must not lose” game.

The attacking Smith will be replaced by the reliable Schifcofske at full back and Cave will move into centre with Trimble on the wing, the latter two adding a fair degree of destructive defence to the side.

The FRU Select therefore reads as follows:

(1-8) Court, Brady, Botha, O’Donoghue, Tuohy, Ferris, Pollock, Henry. (9-15) Boss, Humphreys, Danielli, Wallace, Cave, Trimble, Schifcofske. (16-22) Kyriacou, Young, Caldwell, Anderson, Willis, O’Connor, Whitten

All in the expectation that the Ospreys will play an attacking game allowing Ulster plenty of opportunity to disrupt and counterattack.

The Ospreys have one eye on their next match against Clermont Auvergne and will therefore be sending over an under strength team. I expect McLaughlin to rest anyone carrying a knock and therefore expect to see a much changed team from the one victorious over the Bogmen of Turnipstan.

I expect the front row to be all change with D Fitzpatrick Kyriacou and Young to start. There may also be a rare start for O’Connor.
