ulster120white Ulster have named a much changed side for their boxing day encounter with Leinster.

Cave and Witten return to the starting line up with the impressive Jamie Smith and the overlooked Niall O’Connor making rare appearances in what should be a challenging game against a star studded Leinster back line.

The front five are pretty much the strongest available in my opinion as I’ve been very pleased with Young’s new found application this year and Brady and Kyriacou are pretty much interchangeable. All members of the pack should be keen to impress with injuries continuing to take their toll on Ireland’s frontline troops.

Glad to see TJ get a start and the abrasive qualities he brings to the back row should not be underestimated.

In writing this I’ve sort of persuaded myself that Ulster are going to come away from the RDS with a rare win! Merry Christmas indeed!

ULSTER (15-9) Jamie Smith, Timoci Nagusa, Darren Cave, Ian Whitten, Simon Danelli, Niall O’Connor, Isaac Boss. (1-8) Bryan Young, Nigel Brady, BJ Botha, Ed O’Donoghue, Dan Tuohy, David Pollock, TJ Anderson, Chris Henry (Capt). (16-22) Andy Kyriacou, Declan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Caldwell, Willie Faloon, Cillian Willis, Ian Humphreys, Jonny Shiells.

Please note: The match will be shown live in the Public Bar of the Rosetta, not the lounge as is usually the case!
