UWM It’s been a while since we heard from the girls stateside but they’ve certainly been keeping up with their rugby.

Despite losing their opening two fixtures in the league the Panthers managed to win three on the bounce to force their way into the Midwest Division 1 Quarterfinals.

In a one-sided match the Milwaukee girls beat Indiana University by a convincing 63- 5 to qualify for last weekend’s Midwest Division 1 Final Four in Iowa Falls, IA. A fantastic achievement for their first season in Division 1.

In last weekends matches the UW-Milwaukee Women beat the University of Michigan 34 –12 in the semi final with Bruni (3), Martin (2) and Ney all scoring tries.

In the following day’s final the girls managed to get revenge over the University of Northern Iowa in an intense encounter to win by 15 – 5 with Bruni scoring two tries and Martin one. With their victory, the UW-Milwaukee Women advance to the National Division I Championships in the spring as the #9 seed in the tournament.

Congratulations to all the girls involved and hopefully we’ll be able to bring you coverage of their matches in the spring.
