Ulster have announced the match day 22 for tomorrow afternoon’s clash at Thomond Park.
With consistency the key there are no real surprises as McLaughlin puts forward a team with plenty of points to prove following the mid-week announcement of the Ireland squad.
Ulster Team: (15–9) Clinton Schifcofske, Timoci Nagusa, Darren Cave, Paddy Wallace, Andrew Trimble, Ian Humphreys, Isaac Boss. (1–8) Tom Court, Nigel Brady, Brendon Botha, Ed O’Donoghue, Ryan Caldwell, Stephen Ferris, Willie Faloon Chris Henry. (16–22) Andy Kyriacou, Bryan Young, Tamaiti Horua, Robbie Diack, Paul Marshall, Ian Whitten, Simon Danielli.
It’s a difficult one to call. Going on form it should be a romp for the rejuvenated Ulster side, particularly with the return of Ferris and Wallace, but Munster really, really, need a win and will be fighting tooth and nail to get it.
On paper Ulster have it in the front row, back row and centres but someone said earlier this week that the referee won’t decide the outcome of this game, and I beg to differ. I expect a lot of infringing from Munster early on and how Rolland handles this is going to determine the outcome.
If Rolland handles it correctly and penalises Munster’s constant blocking and taking players out past the ball at ruck time I expect Ulster to win by 12. If he fails to do this then it’s anyone’s game.
Off the fence. Ulster by 12.
If you can’t make it to Limerick don’t forget that the Rosie will be showing full match coverage. Details here.
