hcup120 We’ll be keeping a regular eye on the teams in Ulster’s Heineken Cup group. You can check the latest headlines for each of the teams here.

Things don’t seem to be going too well for our old friends over on Bath and how the fallout from the Jolly Boys outing is going to affect the on pitch performance waits to be seen.

With anonymous finger pointing and secret whispers being fed back to the management it doesn’t strike me that all is well within the squad and the behaviour of some of the players once the allegations were out in the open is extraordinary.

However the club itself has to accept some of the blame for the unsavoury incident as, aside from the rumoured drugs culture, the drinks culture at the club itself leaves something to be desired.

Imagine the furore if Ulster players had been caught on an all day bender, got into a fight with Munster players, ended up in hospital through drink and then the next day had wrecked the URSC barbeque! Not even the FRU could make that up!

As with Ulster, it’s all change with the management team over in Edinburgh. New boss Rob Moffat will have his work cut out repeating last years relative success with his limited squad. He has made a shrewd move bringing Lions legend Tom Smith on board and Smith’s head to head with Davidson should be interesting.

The loss of Southwell to Stade Francais will be a big blow as will the loss, to retirement, of ex-Ulster utility forward Mustchin who played some of his best rugby for the Scots.

My feeling is that the ex-Gunners will struggle this year as they re-build.

Not much news doing the rounds about Mad Max’s men Stade Francais and we are still not sure where we are playing them though, according to les chiens de la rue,  Brussels seems the most likely.

The loss of the talismanic Hernandez is bound to affect the Parisians and how the, sometimes temperamental, French will cope with their homeless status this year could be a big benefit for Ulster. Rest assured though, whatever problems Stade have on the pitch, Mad Max will always be there to throw plenty of money at it.
