ireland120 Five Ulster players have been included for next week’s Irish training camp in Limerick. It’s a welcome return to the senior squad for Andrew Trimble who is joined by, returning Lion, Stephen Ferris, Rory Best, Tom Court and Paddy Wallace. With exiles Neil Best and Tommy Bowe also included the Ulster contingent now sits at seven.

Isaac Boss can count himself unlucky not to be included with veteran Stringer holding on to Kidneys heart strings and Cave must be disappointed that McFadden has edged in ahead of him.

Personally I’m disappointed to see the likes of Buckley, Dowling, Horgan and Murphy still included in the Ireland set up as they have very little new to offer to the Six Nations Champions who really should be rebuilding for the World Cup. However, after last seasons success, Kidney deserves a bit of slack.

It is good to see our friends from The West getting some representation with front rowers Cronin and Wilkinson involved though I’d love to see their flying winger Carr get a chance at this level.

The Ireland training camp will be held from 16-19 August in Limerick.
