redhand Ever since Harry Williams led Ulster to European Glory in 1999 various Ulster management teams have struggled to emulate his success.

In fact, as the once great Ulster have failed to qualify from their Heineken group for the last ten years and have become firmly rooted in the bottom two of the Magners League, you could nearly believe that they were cursed!

The weight of the Red Hand hangs heavy on the current Ulster Management Team, but do they have something magical up their sleeves?

Cue wavy lines and eerie music!

David ‘Harry’ Humphreys. The young wizard, also known as the ‘chosen one’, had the necessary magic on the pitch to change the outcome of games but will his spells be as effective from the stand? He came to fame with his spellbinding play as Ulster went on to win the Heineken Cup and he became overwhelmingly popular with his constant battles against the evil Eddie ‘Voldemort’ O’Sullivan. However the former boy prodigy will have switch his attention from the rugby pitch to the boardroom to ensure the continuation of The Ravenhill School of Rugby Wizards!

Brian ‘Hermione’ McLaughlin. The school swot and the man with all the answers, but will his schoolboy success transfer seamlessly to the professional world? His unsurpassed level of attainment could see him follow in the footsteps of Irish Grand Wizard, Kidney, and he’ll certainly make sure that all his young wizards do their homework. However he’ll have to use all his school teacher experience if he is to reign in the naughty Neil ‘Malfoy’ Doak and ensure that all his pupils get the right message!

Jeremy ‘Ron’ Davidson. The loyal friend who has always come through against all the odds, but will he manage to conquer his biggest challenge to date? Of course he will, having conquered the vicious Boks in ‘97 this Lion hearted Wizard knows how to defend against the dark arts. Under him the Ulster pack will leave their opponents bruised and confused. However he’ll have to use all his powers of communication to ensure that the ‘half blood’ players know the true meaning of The Red Hand!

Under these three Ulster are surely assured a spellbinding season, let’s hope they haven’t forgotten how to point their wands!
