University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Lady Panthers got their league season of to an excellent start with an emphatic 83 – 0 win over a developing Marquette University side on Saturday.
Try scoring legend, and FRU Team Player of the Year, Brittany Biedenbender stole the show by bagging no less than seven tries in this one-sided match. However credit for the victory must go to the forwards who overwhelmed their opposition with their aggressive defence which created many attacking opportunities from turnovers.
Club stalwarts Caila Ney, Brittany Houston and Brianne Jones also got on the score sheet with newcomers Abbey Theiler, Kyla Hensel, Shannon Will and Sam Bruni all dotting down in their first competitive outing this year.
Coach Scot of The Panthers paid tribute to the girls and their opposition.
It was a good situation as we were able to get a lot of playing time from our bench, and we saw a lot of new players come “out of their shell” with brilliant play under match pressure.
All-in-all the score was not reflective of the heart and the determination showed by Marquette University. They have opened a new chapter in the life of their club, and I’m sure it will be a great one.
