Barnes and Kimble.
The FRU CEO Dewi Barnes, after years of unprecedented prudence, finally put his hand in his pocket and fished out a crisp £10 note and joined the “Official” Ulster Rugby Supporters Club.
Is this a bid by Barnes to unseat Chairman Kimble or are The FRU finally throwing their, not inconsiderable, weight behind this hard working bunch of volunteers?
As can be seen from this puff piece over on the Ulster Rugby site the URSC has had mixed success over the years since it was cut loose from Club Ulster with numbers varying year on year. What hasn’t varied however is the hard work that the committee and others have put in year after year to give Ulster Rugby supporters a real value added package.
The URSC offers supporters cut price trips to all away games in Ireland and Scotland as well as running many social events throughout the year and offers prizes for Player of the Month as well as producing a quarterly fanzine.
With Ulster undergoing huge changes this year, on and off the pitch, isn’t it time that you put your money where your mouth is and signed up to show your support for Ulster Rugby. The URSC has some way to go before it has the same amount of clout as the like of Munsters Supporters but clout like that only comes with numbers.
So don’t stand on the sidelines and moan about how it should be. Dig out that tenner and join up and make your voice heard.
The URSC – you know you want to!
