Another season, another new kit.
With this new Kukri kit being a slightly more comfortable fit than the old Canterbury, The FRU give out much needed fashion advice to men of a certain age on what not to wear.
Step forward Ulster’s own Dr Dave.
Now Ulster Rugby legend Dr Dave Irwin has for a long time struck a rather intimidating figure on the touchline around the Ulster dugout. Such have been his passionate displays that he has probably intimidated more of the opposing teams and match officials than all the Ulster players put together.
However at Friday nights game the Dr Dave factor just didn’t appear to be working. The opposition and match officials were even seen coming up to him for a chat during the game.
Now has Dr Dave finally decided to calm down at his time of life or was it because most of his intimidating mystique has been lost because his new Kukri top was just that little bit to tight?
We at the FRU have long been proponents of the XL shirt and above. On many a tour just putting on an XL has taken twenty years of our age and allied with several pints of the local brew we have become transformed into rugby gods striking fear into opposing supporters with our well rounded manly physiques. Is now the time for Dr Dave to finally move up to an XL and claim back his territory round the dugouts?
The FRU says yes, for how can anyone of a certain age be taken seriously in professional sports if they wear a slim fit? Will Dr Dave heed our advice? We’ll let you know after the Queensland game.
