So far our trip has been very successful. Despite having problems with the pitches, after the flooding in the Midwest area, we managed to get a couple of sessions organised for Milwaukee – home of our friends the UW Milwaukee Lady Panthers.
With over thirty attending at short notice we were very pleased with the turnout and all the participants were very enthusiastic. The level of skills on show was high and Justin and Jamie were impressed by the overall fitness levels and the willingness and enthusiasm of the players to take on new skills.
We’ve got plenty of pictures and we’ll get them posted next week.
We were visited at the sessions by Murray Allen of Kukri Sports USA who was on hand to present each of the players with a Kukri Rugby ball.
On Saturday we moved down to Chicago and the Churchill Cup Finals. We managed to get our hands on a box for the finals and the day was a huge success. As well as being visited by many coaches, players and officials from the Midwest rugby world we also had a lengthy visit from the Sky Sports commentary team of Dewi Morris and Tyrone Howe who joined us for the USA Canada match. Again there will be plenty of pictures next week.
This afternoon we’ll be off to Madison to get set up for our second Camp at Madison RFC.
It’s a lot more work than I thought but the reception we’ve had so far is fantastic.
