With Ulster players given a couple of days off it is expected that Matt Williams will spend the time trying to finalise his signings for next season.

With as many as six new starts being talked about it is believed that Williams has used his Australian connections to try and sign Rocky Elsom and, sensationally, current Australian Captain Stirling Mortlock who tied himself to the ARU as recently as February this year so Williams will have to be at his persuasive best.

With the BJ Botha deal almost finalised expect Ulster to announce the signing of an international winger/full back together with a young back row forward.

Front runner for the wing/fullback role appears to be rugby league convert Clinton Schifcofske
