Kieron Dawson has signed a one year contract which will see him stay with Ulster Rugby until the end of next season.

This is a good deal for Ulster Rugby who need his hard edge and experience in a back row decimated by departures.

Dawson has really impressed this season after a slow start and his experience should help bring our young stars through what will be a testing time next season.

Unfortunately the news is tempered by the announcement on The Harlequins website which confirms Neil McMillan’s departure to the London outfit.

Always a FRU favourite we’ll be sorry to see this passionate Ulsterman leave as he still has a lot to offer. However given his frustration over game time and the lack of international opportunities, a change of scenery will do him good.

As with Bowe, he’s plenty young enough to come back in a year or two’s time.

Congratulation Kieron and good luck Neil.
